Tigers Make Final Cut

According to Danny Knobler, the Tigers have placed Franklin German on the waiver list. Any team that claims him has to place him on their 25 man roster. If he goes unclaimed, the Tigers can then send him to Toledo. The Tigers 25 man roster is now set including the 7 man bullpen: Todd Jones, Fernando Rodney, Jamie Walker, Chris Spurling, Joel Zumaya, Jason Grilli and Bobby Seay.

  1. Not a good week for the Jeff Weaver trade, was it?

It's really disappointing that German couldn't work out his control issues. He looked like he could be an intimdating force out of the bullpen

  2. Even though people on this blog will disagree, I still believe the trade will be judged as a Weaver Bonderman straight up deal.

  3. I can agree with that now. At the time though Pena was viewed as the big chip in that deal. But, Bondo has made DD look good for pulling that one off. I never liked Weaver anyway so we could have traded him away for a lawnchair as far as I'm concerned, but, I'm glad we got Bondo he's got a great career ahead of him.

As for German he has no confidence in himself when he pitches. In order for him to be succesful he has to believe he can beat the guy standing in the box. Not the other way around. He has really great stuff, his fastball and his split are great pitches. He just doesn't know how to execute them--
Someone will pick him up for sure. I read in the Sun that Baltimore is interested in the Jolly Giant.

  4. Although I don't think Weaver has done much better than Pena since the trade, I agree that most will judge the trade as Weaver versus Bonderman. I still like Bonderman's chances in that matchup.
