Tigers Get Chris Lambert for Maroth

The Tigers have acquired Chris Lambert from the Cardinals as the player to be named later for Mike Maroth. Lambert, a 24 year old right-handed pitcher, was the Cardinals number one pick in the 2004 first year player draft. However, he has not had an ERA below 5.00 in 3 years above A ball. This year,he has pitched mostly in relief and has a 6.21 ERA and 67/37 K/BB ratio in 84 innings for AA Springfield and AAA Memphis. Baseball America says that he has a low 90s fastball, a good change-up and an improving curve but is very inconsistent and lacks control. He apparently has a decent arm but seems like a long shot to ever help the Tigers.

  1. you are right, he is a long shot. His velocity has been 85-90 the past season and a half, he's been a bust for the cardinals
