756 FOR BONDS

Barry Bonds broke the all time home record tonight by hitting career home run number 756 off Washington Nationals pitcher Mike Bacsik in the 5th inning. You could tell that Barry Bonds was locked in tonight by his solidly hit double and single in his first 2 at bats. In his third at bat he hit a long shot to right on a 3-2 pitch and there was no about it. It was a long home run and history had been made.

There was a 10 minute delay while Bonds hugged his family and the home town crowd gave him a well deserved standing ovation. The highlight of the celebration was a taped message from Hank Aaron which appeared on the stadium video screen. Bonds followed that display by making a speech where he thanked the Giants fans. I thought the entire celebration was very well done and appropriate.

Congratulations to Bonds on a great accomplishment. It's been a pleasure to follow his career.
