Tigers Finally Lose

Tonight's game got off to a good start. Curtis Granderson led off the bottom of the first with his 6th home run of the year. Nate Robertson cruised through the first 3 innings and the Tigers led 2-0 going into the 4th. Then it all fell apart. Robertson allowed a 3 run homer to Jose Guillen in the 4th. He allowed 3 more runs on a single and 3 doubles in the 5th. Jason Grilli then entered the game and allowed 3 runs in the 6th. Just like that, the Tigers were down 9-2 and that's the way it ended.

Jim Leyland pulled his regulars rather early in this one as Carlos Guillen, Magglio Ordonez and Pudge Rodriguez never saw the 7th inning. It was bit of a surprise but perhaps Leyland sensed that they weren't going to get to Cha Seung Baek tonight. Baek pitched a complete game allowing just 6 hits and no walks. He threw 112 pitches, only 35 of them balls.

So, the 8 game streak is over and they'll attempt to start a new one tomorrow afternoon. It will be Justin Verlander versus Jeff Weaver. This looks like a good matchup for the Tigers but then so did tonight's matchup.
