Powerful Tigers Lead League in Runs Scored

With the 14 run explosion tonight, the Tigers took the American League lead in runs scored with 223. To be fair, they are actually in 2nd place to the Indians in runs per game (5.4 R/G versus 5.5 R/G) as Cleveland has 218 runs in 2 fewer games. However, as the chart below shows, the Tigers are among the leaders in several statistical categories.

First and foremost, the Tigers are hitting for power. They are first in doubles (98), second in triples (11), third in home runs (46), first in extra base hits (155) and first in slugging percentage (.450). However, they are also hitting for average (.272) and getting on base (.339) and are 4th in the league in both categories.
