Over the last few days, I have presented the Average Range Ranks (ARR) for third basemen and shortstops. Today’s table (see below) lists the second basemen with 600 or more innings played in 2005. Here are the highlights:
- Placido Polanco finished 13th among 29 qualifying second basemen. His rank varied from 8 (PMR) to 23 (Gassko) and his ARR was 14.3.
- The top second basemen in baseball were Adam Kennedy (4.5), Orlando Hudson (4,.8) and Chase Utley (6.5).
- The lowest ranking second baseman was Alfonso Soriano (25.5). I guess that’s another good reason to move him to the outfield.
