Detroit Tiger Prospect Report - 07/01/2006

Toledo Mud Hens (AAA)
Record: 44-37


In 5 starts for Toledo, Humberto Sanchez has pitched 30.2 innings and has a 2.05 ERA and 27/9 k/bb ratio. He had a 1.76 ERA and 86/27 k/bb ratio in 71.2 innings for Erie. Former top Texas Rangers prospect Colby Lewis has a 3.36 ERA and 67/26 ratio in 96.1 innings. Journeyman Chad Durbin has a 3.09 ERA and 80/22 ratio in 105 innings. Jordan Tata allowed only 5 hits and struck out 11 in 7 shutout innings last night. He now has a 3.75 ERA and 47/21 ratio in 57.2 IP…..The leading hitters are Ryan Raburn (.290/.373/.520) and Josh Phelps (.303/.353/.504). David Espinosa has hit .333 with 4 homers in his last 18 games to raise his season numbers to .275/.356/.492


Erie SeaWolves (AA)
Record: 34-43


Jair Jurrjens has a 2.65 ERA and 14/5 ratio over 17 innings in his first 3 starts for Erie. He went 2.08 59/10 in 73.2 innings for Lakeland. Brian Rogers has a 2.31 ERA and 52/13 ratio in 46.2 innings as a reliever......Tony Giarratano has gone 17 for 36 in his last 10 games to raise his season stats to .270/.331/.375. He also has 15 stolen bases. Brent Clevlen is still struggling mightily hitting .210/.291/.301.

Lakeland Tigers (A+)
First half: 37-32
Second half: 5-4

Kyle Sleeth’s comeback from Tommy John surgery was derailed after just two starts when his shoulder locked up. It’s not known how long he’ll be out. He had pitched 5 innings allowing 4 earned runs on 7 hits and 3 walks. Dallas Trahern has a 1.98 ERA in his last 7 starts and now has a 3.84 ERA and 58/22 ratio in 91.1 innings overall…..Jeff Larish is batting .256/.364/.488. He is 6th in the league in slugging and 3rd in walks with 44.

West Michigan Whitecaps (A)
First half: 41-26
Second half: 7-2

Ramon Garcia continues to be one of the organizations best performers this year. He has a 1.92 ERA and 55/11 k/bb ratio in 75 innings. Other starters having good seasons are Lucas French (97 IP, 3.25 ERA and 61/24 k/bb ratio), Sendy Vazquez (80.1/,3.25/64/27) and Burke Badenhop (94.2/3.33/68/16). Three relievers having strong seasons for the Whitecaps are: Orlando Perdomo (30/1.20/32/6), Anthony Claggett (36/0.25/36/11) and Matthew Rusch (42.2/1.27/34/5)…..Cameron Maybin is batting .298/.388/.452 with 13 SB. A couple other prospects having good seasons are Michael Holliman (.276/.391/.425), Dusty Ryan (.303/.388/.451) and Michael Hernandez (.308/.350/.500).


Oneonta Tigers (A-)
Record: 8-2


Christopher Cody has a 1.13 ERA and 7/1 ratio in his first 8 innings. Jose Fragoso has a 2.70 ERA and 12/3 ratio in 6.2 innings…..The leading hitter for Oneonta in the first 10 games is Brandon Timm (.364/.382/.545). Some high draft picks making their professional debut for Oneonta are Scott Sizemore (.373/.400/.512), Ronald Bourquin (.265/.419/.265) and Brennan Boesch (.235/.289/.529).


GCL Tigers (Rookie)
Record: 3-6


2004 second round draft pick Eric Beattie, who suffered through Rick Ankielesque control problems in his his first professional season is trying to make a comeback. He has allowed 2 walks in 5 innings so far…..The top hitter through 9 games is Gorkys Hernandez (.382/.405/.588).
