Giants Sweep Tigers, Season is Over

The Tigers finally put up a battle tonight, but lost 4-3 in ten innings to the Giants.  Second baseman Marco Scutaro, who has been scorching throughout the post-season, singled home the winning run off of reliever Phil Coke in the top of the tenth.  Giants closer Sergio Romo then struck out the side in the bottom of the inning to seal it.  The win completed a sweep for the Giants, who won their second World Series in three years.

Designated hitter Delmon Young tied the game for the Tigers in the bottom of the sixth.  Outfielder Andy Dirks followed with a single, but that would be the last Tigers last hit of the season as the Giants bullpen stopped them cold.  The Giants simply outplayed them in every facet of the game this series.

I can't say this was one or my favorite Tigers teams or seasons ever, but any time a team makes the World Series, it's a pretty good season.  There's not much more to say at the moment, but I'll be analyzing the Tigers all winter as usual.

Congratulations to the 2012 World Champion San Francisco Giants.
